The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Year B - Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary & ‘Marian Hymn Trilogy’

This Sunday (August 15th) marks the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Catholic Church teaches that the Virgin Mary "having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory".

In this Sunday’s Gospel (Luke 1:39-56), Mary visits her kinswoman, Elizabeth, and sings a song of thanksgiving (often called the Magnificat, the ‘Song of Mary’ or the ‘Canticle of Mary’).

In honour of this Solemnity and the Gospel, we would like to share our latest video, a trilogy of hymns dedicated to three important moments in the life of Mary: the Annunciation of the Angel Gabriel, the Magnificat or 'Song of Mary' and Mary’s Assumption into heaven.
