This weekend, we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. This solemnity highlights that Jesus Christ, the King, is the destination of our earthly pilgrimage. There are Biblical texts specific to all three years of the liturgical cycle which help us fully grasp the person of Jesus. In this Sunday’s Gospel (John 18:33-37), before Pilate, Jesus states that he is a king but that his kingdom is not of this world.
