4th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A - Seek Ye First (The Kingdom of God)
In this Sunday’s Gospel (Mt. 5:1-12), Jesus gives his ‘Sermon on the Mount’ and says that the poor in spirit, the sorrowing, those thirsting for holiness, the merciful, the peacemakers, and those who suffer for holiness’ sake are “Blessed”, and their reward awaits them in heaven. He starts the Beatitudes by saying, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
In honour of this Gospel, we would like to share our latest video, "Seek Ye First (The Kingdom of God)", a beautiful hymn written by Karen Lafferty that calls us to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Inspired by scripture, the lyrics of the song draw from Matthew 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom [of God] and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides."
