8th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C - Where, O Death, is your Sting & “Songs of the Angels”

In this Sunday’s Gospel (Luke 6:39-45), Jesus tells the parable of the ‘blind leading the blind’ to his disciples, reminding them to receive the word of God with complete openness. Only then can they draw from their hearts words that will lead others to Christ.

In the second reading (1 Cor. 15:54-58), St. Paul reminds the Corinthians that the risen Christ is the source of our new life that will produce in us all its fruits at the time of our resurrection. He writes, “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

In honour of this reading and Gospel, we would like to share our latest video ‘Songs of the Angels’, a beautiful hymn by Bob Dufford that is sung in parishes throughout the world at Catholic funerals to offer hope and consolation to the grieving.
