3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C - Jesus Teaches in the Synagogue & ‘One Bread, One Body’

In this Sunday’s Gospel (Luke 1:1-21), Jesus proclaims the “good news” to the poor, and announces the fulfillment of the prophetic vision of Isaiah. Jesus says, “‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor’…Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.

In the second reading (1 Corinthians: 12-30), Saint Paul tells us that through Baptism, we become Christians. Saint Paul says, “For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body - Jews or Greeks, slaves or free - and we were all made to drink of one Spirit…Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.”

In honour of these readings, we would like to share our latest video ‘One Bread, One Body’, a well-known communion hymn by John Foley that is sung in churches throughout the world.
