“Lord Jesus, Of You I Will Sing” was translated from a French hymn by Canadian Roman Catholic priest, organist and liturgist Stephen Sommerville (1931-2015). The French hymn it was based on, "Jésus, Je Voudrais" was written by Les Petites Soeurs de Jésus, also known as the Little Sisters of Jesus.

The version we're singing is the original translation from the Catholic Book of Worship II (CBW2). Other adaptations have been later published including "Lord, Jesus, You Shall Be My Song as I Journey".
