Ash Wednesday - Year B - Lent 2024 and “Hymns for Lent”

Mercy is at the heart of the Christian life. No matter where Jesus went or what he did, mercy was essential. Jesus' healing ministry responds to the world's need for God's mercy.
God wishes for all of us to be made clean and no matter our circumstances or fears, Jesus makes us whole again. God's mercy is more significant than anything we may be experiencing. All we have to do is call on the Lord. What's stopping you from calling out for mercy?

Some say they are waiting to get their lives in order before calling God. Jesus wants to meet us where we are. It is while on the journey that we can find our healing. God never gets tired of showing us mercy. The leper in last weekend’s Gospel (Mk 1:40-45) did not hesitate to approach Jesus, asking for healing. Even though he is considered "unclean" and lives outside of the community, Jesus heals him and restores him.

Jesus is always in the business of healing and restoring us with our community. No longer having to live on the outside, the restored leper couldn't help but tell the story of his healing. May our re-entry into the community be a cause for rejoicing in our story of healing and God's compassion. And may the Season of Lent, starting today on Ash Wednesday, be a 40-day retreat and encounter with the face of Mercy itself.

In honour of the start of the Lenten Season, we would like to share our latest video, "Music of the Mass | Hymns of Lent", a new 90 minute collection of Catholic and other Christian choral music for the Lenten season. A collection of 20 Lenten Hymns, Chants and Songs in honour of the 40 days and 40 nights of preparation, fasting and sacrifice before the Holy Triduum.
